SHIFTNAKE is a two-mode arcade snake. Pick a skin, then either keep a chain of boards alive or close loops and claim the grid.

SHIFT: linked boards

Boards slide, expand, and lock together. Light an unlit tile for the first time to grow a chain. The chain caps at x5, then waits in a first-in, first-out bank. Eating a fruit spends only the oldest multiplier. Blocking a shifting board with your head is a Guard Point for +50. Clearing a world pays +100 and keeps the bank. Every 10th world opens a 10-second Tunnel Rush.

CLAIM: 70% territory

One 16x16 board. Close a loop, including a flat 2xN rectangle, and the inside is claimed. Wrap a single 2x2 obstacle to crush it. Wrap two or more and the claim faults. Reach 70% and the board shatters for +100, then the fruit multiplier steps up: x1.0, x1.5, x2.0, x2.5, x3.0.

In both modes

• Skins: 10 in the Fruit Shop (Neon Viper in the demo)
• Fruit level rises every 10 pickups
• Fruit stays for 8 seconds. A golden fruit shortens you by 1, down to length 3
• Music and sound volume can be adjusted from the title screen or the pause menu

Controls

• Turn: Arrow keys or WASD. Touch screens have an on-screen pad
• Pause: Space, P, or Esc
